Car Maintenance – What You Don’t Need

Modern cars need less maintenance than ever before. Here are some things that you shouldn’t spend money on.

Oil Changes Every 3,000 Miles? Heck No! Do what it says in your owner’s manual. Most modern cars need oil changes every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. Some cars are designed to go even longer.

Engine Flushes Are a Scam. Don’t fall for “engine flushes” or other expensive extras at quickie oil-change places.

Gas Tank Additives Don’t Work. Don’t put anything but gas in your tank. It won’t increase your mileage, it won’t improve performance, and it might damage your engine and void the warranty.
