If you’re dreading the thought of Halloween this year because candy is too expensive, or your children still enjoy the holiday but are too old for trick-or-treating, you might consider hosting a Halloween potluck party for the neighborhood children and their parents. You may find that your neighbors will appreciate the alternative.
One family that I know made a haunted house in their basement every year, adding new surprises the next Halloween so it would never become old. Although the parents were involved, many of the ideas came from their children. The children and other parents could also be enlisted in coming up with games for everyone to play.
