What is a Roth IRA?

April 15, 2010

A Roth IRA is a type of retirement account that has different rules than a traditional IRA. In a Roth IRA, your contributions are not tax deductible. You pay your taxes as usual and then put the money into your Roth IRA. When you go to withdraw the money, all your original contributions and the earnings from the account can be taken out tax free.
