Saving Money by Spending More

Cheapest isn’t always best. Sometimes you can save money by spending more in the first place. Fluorescent bulbs are one examples of this. They cost considerably more to purchase than an incandescent bulb, but they last 10 times longer, and use 60% less energy. Now that places like Home Depot recycle them, you don’t have to worry about polluting the environment either.

Rechargeable batteries are another example. Even though they cost more than regular batteries, they last much longer. Admittedly, they don’t work well in every instance, such as flashlights that don’t get regular use. However, for items like cameras, the savings can be substantial. If you go through a lot of batteries in a year, you are creating a lot of waste too.
