If you live in a hot humid climate, you may be using both a dehumidifier and an air conditioner. These appliances collect a lot of water when they are running. If you are like most people, this water probably just goes to waste.
Saving the water from an air conditioner unit is fairly easy. You could just put a bucket under the drain pipe. Or, you could attach a hose to the pipe and run it to a rain barrel. You could even attach a garden hose to it and run it out to your yard or garden. This works best if the air conditioner is on higher ground. If you have an indoor portable unit, just pour the water into a bucket. The same can be done with the water from the dehumidifier.
The accumulated water can be used for a number of things such as:
- Watering your indoor plants.
- Watering your garden.
- Watering your grass.
- Washing your car.
- Cleaning your floors.
- In your iron.
- Flushing your toilet.
- Any other cleaning projects that use water.
